ABOUT SILVER OAK CELLARS Silver Oak began over a handshake between two friends with a bold vision: focus on one varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon, aged exclusively in American oak and worthy of cellaring for decades to come. Ray Twomey Duncan, a Colorado entrepreneur who began investing in California vineyards in the late 1960s, and Justin Meyer, a Christian Brothers-trained winemaker, co-founded Silver Oak out of a Napa Valley dairy barn in 1972, producing only 1,000 cases of their inaugural vintage. Over the next two decades, Silver Oak grew in popularity. Our Napa Valley and Alexander Valley Cabernets sold quickly upon their release from the winery and became a highly sought-after staple on restaurant wine lists nationwide. After selecting Daniel Baron to succeed him as winemaker in 1994, Justin retired, selling his share of Silver Oak to the Duncan family in 2001. Ray’s sons, David and Tim Duncan, own and operate the winery to this day. NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON Given proper cellaring conditions, this wine will continue to improve through 2043. Ample winter rain tempered into a mild spring. With temperatures and conditions both ideal, the stage was set for good budbreak. This vintage, fruit set was even and the resulting yields were plentiful. The following summer months were warm and steady, allowing the fruit to hang and ripen uninterrupted. Thanks to this unrushed pace, the fruit had time to develop an intensity of flavors and a depth of complexity. The winery received the first deliveries of Merlot on September 10, and the last of our mountain Cabernet Sauvignon did not cross the crush pad until October 16. The 2018 vintage was a calm and abundant year with amazing fruit quality across all our properties. Producer tasting notes: "A true benchmark, the Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon every year is a glorious rendering of the flavors and textures that have made Napa Valley the epicenter of American winemaking. Ultra-classic notes of cassis and blackberry are the wine’s calling cards, rendered with the opulent, pulpy ripeness characteristic of Napa and burnished by heady suggestions of tobacco and spice. These warm flavors are woven into a fine, intricate structure with palpable density. Tannins are beefy, but fine-grained, sweet in their chewiness. Polished and buffed to be drinkable upon the release, the wine’s concentration and brawny structure give it the musculature to age for decades." - Silver Oak Cellars SHIPPING - Autographed bottles will be shipped to the winning bidder within approximately 45 days. - Alcohol may only be shipped to an address where an individual at least 21 years old can sign for the package during regular business hours. - The carrier will make 3 delivery attempts, at which point the package will be returned.
